This book has a good quick reference section, an introduction of XML concepts, and Xlinks (not yet fully implemented in browsers).
This book is clearly written, concise and well organized.

Developing Xml Solutions
This book gives a clear exposition of fundamental XML terms, but it has a strong focus on Microsoft technologies.
I would recommend this book, but it should be borne in mind that it is focused around Microsoft's XML.

This book is disjointed in places, but it has some good parts. Generally this book needs reading in conjunction with another,
such as XML in a nutshell.
