IntroductionThe Oval tool (O) is used to draw circles or ellipses on the Flash Stage. Circles are drawn by holding down the SHIFT key as you drag the left mouse button with the Oval tool selected.
The drawn shape can be modified using the Arrow, Subselection, Color tool options in similar way to the rectangles.
Select the Oval tool, by clicking on the toolbox, and click and drag on the Main Stage. The figures show an oval being drawn. Use SHIFT and drag to draw a circle.
Select the Subselection tool and move the cursor over the oval hape. Notice that the cursor changes from an arrow to an arrow with a filled square and to an arrow with an unfilled square.
When the mouse shape has an arrow with an unfilled square, only one anchor point can be dragged. When it is a filled square, the whole shape can be moved.
The first figure shows the whole shape being moved. The figure shows this.
When the cursor shape has the unfilled square then one anchor point can be dragged, and this modifies the shape, as the figures show.
Select the Arrow tool and click on the outline of the figure on stage. It can be dragged. The figure shows this.
By clicking on the filler, then the filler can be moved, similarly.
As with the Rectangle, the color of the filler and outline can be changed using the Color options on the Toolbox. Select the filler with the Arrow tool selected, and then select the desired color from the Toolbbox.
A part of the shape can be selected using the Arrow tool and drawing a rectangle over the shape, and then dragging. The figure shows a result of doing this.
This tutorial introduces the Oval tool, and how to modify shapes drawn with it. Shapes can have their colors changed, and also shapes can be modified with the arrow and Subselection tools.
